The Shed

Night view showcasing the exterior lighting of the Shed performance and event center

Location
New York, NY

Forest Electric New York provided construction of the electrical, lighting, fiber optic cabling, and kinetic controls systems for The Shed, a 200,000 square foot hall for large scale performances and events.

This innovative performance and event center has a movable outer shell that can be deployed over the adjoining space in Hudson Yards to create a 17,000 square foot temperature-controlled hall. The building houses two two-story galleries, a theater with audio/video and theatrical lighting systems, and a dance studio.

Our scope of work included:

  • 225,000 linear feet of electrical conduit
  • 1.1 million linear feet of wire
  • Theatrical lighting system
  • Over 400,000 linear feet of Cat6 cable
  • 20,000 linear feet of fiber optic cabling

The Shed was created as a new cultural center for the City of New York, and it will host many events, such as art exhibitions, performances, films, and fashion shows.
