Institute for Culinary Education New York, NY
The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE), one of the largest culinary schools in the world, relocated to a newly renovated space on the third floor of Brookfield Place in downtown Manhattan. ICE chose Forest Electric as their contractor to install the necessary infrastructure for the 44,000-square-foot facility. The move to a larger space will enable the institute to accommodate its ever expanding student enrollment. The new facility is designed to educate their culinary students in new state-of-the-art kitchens and classrooms. An extensive audio visual system was also installed to allow instructors to better communicate & instruct their students.
FOREST ELECTRIC NEW YORK VALUE DELIVERED
For this project, Forest Electric New York put together a team of dedicated experts who were not only experienced in the installation of power-infrastructure work, but who were also proficient and familiar with all the differing aspects of these kitchen systems.
Due to managing many different systems vendors and various pieces of equipment, Forest Electric NY’s experience proved to be invaluable in pushing this project to completion.
Forest Electric New York provided a number of services to this client, including installing new transformers and distribution panels. These panels were installed throughout the third floor to provide power to thirteen commercial-grade kitchens, classrooms, and open-space areas. Forest also installed control panels for an ansul system, as well as hood controls that required all kitchen systems be tied together.
In addition, we installed modern LED light fixtures with dimming controls to allow each chef to customize his or her specific kitchen. We installed a new fire alarm system that required individual controls, fan shutdowns and notifications of every unit in each kitchen while also conforming to the building's strict fire alarm requirements.
